| It was as a child, with my crayons on the back of my fathers old blueprints that I began to draw. It was the only thing that kept me quiet and out of trouble. I was born in Mobile, Alabama, and contrary to popular belief did not grow up in a mobile home. I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, then returned to Alabama for my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Auburn University. I decided to study graphic design and illustration because I thought it would be fun. And it was! Later, something took hold of my soul and convinced me to go to Ireland to pursue my Masters Degree at the National College of Art and Design. I am enchanted by this country! I was struck by the simple differences in life here in Dublin and the life Id had at home. Ive caught on to having tea and Im becoming familiar with the plants and flowers native to Ireland by starting my own little flower bed. In August I married the man that I love and adore. I like to include quirky little details in my pictures; just little things that you might not notice at first. Occasionally a friend or family member will turn up as a character in one of my books. I also like to draw food. When Im not in my studio drawing and painting, I entertain myself by teaching design and illustration at Ballyfermot (a college here in Dublin) and making pottery. |
